United States / United Kingdom | Shredding machinery specialist American Pulverizer has installed its first Super Heavy-Duty 80x104 Shredder in the UK. The customer is scrap specialist Hawkeswood Metal of Birmingham.
American Pulverizer/Hustler Conveyor supplied the mill and the undermill oscillator while the downstream equipment was designed and built by a local UK company. American Pulverizer’s team had the system up and running less than a week after arriving on site.
Hawkeswood Metal chose the American Pulverizer 80x104 based on the heavy-duty design and its ability to process heavier materials with ease. This is the first company shredder offering remote operation of the mill without an operator control room over the top of the motor control building. By using both infrared and closed-circuit cameras, the manufacturer was able to locate the operator closer to the feed end of the system, allowing him to prevent any materials deemed to be undesirable from entering the system.
This is also the first system in the UK to utilise the Quad Plus 4600 HP DC Drive Package which is also integrated with the control centre.
