International Battery Recycling Congress

The 12th International Congress for Battery Recycling, staged by Swiss organisation ICM, will take place on June 20-22 this year in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.

Set to attract leading experts in the field, the event will include: an update of global legislative issues surrounding the battery industry; reports on the implementation of the EU’s new Battery Directive; an outline of recent developments relating to battery manufacturers’ recycling activities; an overview of the international battery market and collection systems; and an analysis of safety issues in the production, use, collection and recycling of batteries. Other themes to be covered will include: eco-design and the ‘removeability’ of batteries from electronics; hybrid vehicles; mobile phone battery systems; developments in rechargeable battery technologies; best available technologies for battery recycling; and the impact of the EU’s REACH and RoHS regulations on battery manufacturers and recyclers.

Delegates will also have an opportunity to visit a leading battery manufacturing plant or an outstanding electronics recycling plant.
