Proposal for Europe-wide WEEE forum
by Editorial staff. October 01, 2006
The Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and Sustainable Resource Management (ACR+) is gauging interest in the formation of a WEEE Public Authorities Forum. The aim of the forum would be to gather together all public authorities concerned with the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in Europe.

The body’s goals would include:

* comparing the various national, regional and local systems applying the producer responsibility principle;

* clarifying the key elements of the public-private partnerships to be developed in the field of WEEE management, especially regarding their financing;

* following European work regarding the implementation and revision of the WEEE directive;

* advocating the role of public authorities as protectors of the public interest.
