Sims buys Canadian WEEE recycler

Canada / Australia | World leader in end of life electronic recycling Sims Recycling Solutions has acquired Accu-Shred, a prominent Canadian electronics recycling business, based in Mississauga, Ontario.

Steve Skurnac, President of Sims Recycling Solutions in North America comments: ‘Sims Recycling Solutions is very well positioned to continue in its market leadership position, and to prepare for the large volumes of WEEE expected to arise from Ontario WEEE regulations. Our commitment to this business continues through this investment and is the first step of a larger strategic growth plan in Canada.’

Accu-Shred is the second business for Sims Recycling Solutions in Canada, the company already operates a state of the art facility providing 100% electronic hardware recycling in Brampton, Ontario. The site has a capacity to process 35 million pounds of end of life electronics annually.

Founded in 1994, new Sims member Accu-Shred has established itself as one of Ontario’s leading environmentally sound end of life electronics recyclers, according to Sydney, Australia headquartered Sims.
