* Spectro

The 1000th SPECTROMAXx metal analyser sold by Spectro has been delivered to AWG of Giengen, Germany. A supplier of mobile and stationary fire protection equipment, AWG requires a metal analyser in its foundry for alloy control prior to casting.

The SPECTROMAXx was launched two years ago. According to Spectro, which is based in Kleve, Germany, the SPECTROMAXx’s SPECTRO Plasma Generator sample excitation system provides more accurate and stable results than a conventional excitation source.

* MBA Polymers

The Tech Museum of Innovation (TMI) in San Jose, California, has named MBA Polymers among its 2006 Tech Museum Awards Laureates. A total of 25 Laureates were chosen for the prestigious Intel Environment Award, which celebrates those companies which have developed new and existing technologies to benefit humanity. This year’s Laureates were selected from 951 entries received from a total of 98 countries by TMI’s programme partner, the Santa Clara University’s Center for Science, Technology, and Society.

MBA Polymers has become a world leader at developing and commercialising technology to recover plastics from the highly-mixed and contaminated streams of ‘residue’ created by the recovery of metals from end-of-life durable goods such as computers, electronics, appliances and vehicles. Within the last 12 months, MBA has started up production facilities at Guangzhou in China and Kematen in Austria.
