* Master Magnets

Master Magnets Ltd has acquired Metal Detection Ltd, one of the leading suppliers of metal detectors in the UK and abroad. The acquisition represents a strategic enhancement of Master Magnets’ existing range of separation and sorting equipment.

The metal detectors - which suit a wide range of industries such as recycling, mining, food and bulk handling - will be manufactured at Master Magnets’ production facility in Redditch, UK.

The detectors can handle a variety of applications. For example, the Transitect detector suits free-fall situations while the QDC tunnel detector is suitable for belt conveyors. Existing customers of Metal Detection can still contact Master Magnets with any queries about service, repairs and spares.

* Manitowoc Crane Group

Manitowoc Crane Group (MCG) has opened a new Grove mobile crane production plant at Niella Tanaro, close to the Italian city of Turin. This is the first plant in Southern Europe to manufacture Grove products.

In the first year, Manitowoc plans to build rough-terrain mobile cranes and also to assemble some of the smaller GMK all-terrains. President of MCG Glen Tellock says: ‘Italy is the world’s second-largest rough-terrain market and the most important market in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.’
