Shipbreaking yard for Poland?
by Editorial staff. December 01, 2006
V.Ships France SAS wants to establish a shipbreaking facility in Szczecin, Poland. The idea has found support in shipbuilding circles but the country’s maritime administration Urzad Morski and the county administrative board are against the proposal.

Christophe Saint-Genies, Project Manager at V.Ships France SAS, says it would be possible to scrap medium-sized ships at Szczecin without a negative environmental impact. The existing yard facility could be used and expanded as the need arose, he argued.

Mr Saint-Genies’ company is part of a group which has 900 ships under its management. V.Ships Holding boasts 68 offices in 60 countries; it has 1100 shore-based and more than 20 000 ship-based employees.
