Wheeled loaders in recycling role
by Editorial staff. February 01, 2005
Three new Liebherr L 544 2plus2 wheeled loading shovels have been added to the fleet of machines at Sims Group’s Stratford upon Avon facility in the UK.

Sims Group UK Ltd has been using Liebherr wheeled loading shovels at Stratford upon Avon since 1993 and its first model - an L 531 - has now completed a remarkable 31 000 hours of operation and is still working full ten-hour shifts, loading trucks with fragmentised metals and waste products. The performance of this loader and the back-up provided by Liebherr’s local field service engineer has prompted Sims to specify three further Liebherr L 544 wheeled loading shovels, with the latest generation 2plus2 model joining the company’s materials handling fleet in September.

Featuring hydrostatic drive, these agile and versatile articulated loaders are well suited to a site where working space is at a premium. The L 544 loaders are predominantly used to load saleable product into trucks, while also loading unusable waste materials for transportation to landfill sites.
