Improved screen throughput with Flex-Thane
by Editorial staff. April 28, 2008
New Product | Major Wire Industries (MWI) has developed a new application designed to eliminate blinding and pegging problems on flat-surface screen decks. Flex-Thane independently-vibrating wires, bonded in place with polyurethane strips, will also provide more open area for far greater throughput, higher production and better efficiency than polyurethane and rubber screens in hard-to-screen applications, it is claimed.

Producers using polyurethane and rubber screen panels often sacrifice significant production for wear life, according to the company from Quebec, Canada. Especially in wet screening conditions, whether through the use of spray bars or through weather conditions, polyurethane and rubber screen openings will often plug or blind. The result for the producer is frequent shutdowns for screen cleaning, wasted material and/or out-of-spec material which, says the company, defeats the purpose of a sizing screen altogether.

Flex-Thane is available in 1-inch by 1-inch and 1-inch by 4-inch panel sizes, with a variety of locking systems to fit virtually any flat-surface polyurethane screen deck. It can be custom-made in 1-inch by 2-inch and 1-inch by 3-inch sizes as well as in mixed dimensions.
