Felemamg widens eddy-current range
by Editorial Staff. March 02, 2010
Product news | Felemamg of Spain has extended its range of eddy-current separators with the addition of SFME models with 10, 18 or 32 poles whose eccentric magnetic rotor technology enables aluminium, copper and lead to be removed from a variety of waste streams, such as those in car shredding and electronic scrap operations.

The SFME eddy-current separator combines the power and efficiency of Felemamg’s 290 mm-diameter SFM-29 concentric rotor with a long service life due to its eccentric rather than concentric shell, explains the Gijón-based manufacturer. The SFME-29 eddy-current separator is comprised of: an eccentric magnetic rotor with 10, 18 or 32 poles and with grade 40 neodymium permanent magnets; and a conveyor belt with double longitudinally guided and double lateral contention ledges.

Other features of the SFME-29 separator include: a welded structure; lateral and frontal protections; an adjustable divider wall; a motor and motor gear for belt conveyor and rotor, joined with transmission belts and protection; and electrical equipment with rotor and belt variable speed controllers. As an option, the unit can also be supplied with product output chutes and a vibrating feeder.

The large diameter of the rotor permits the assembly of magnetic poles of great width, with a magnetic reach that allows the treatment of a large volume of material, the company continues. The eccentric shell provides effective protection against ingress of iron particles between the rotor and the conveyor belt; the particles come off automatically on the bottom of the shell.
