Patented CrossCut blade from Weima
by Editorial Staff. March 03, 2010
Porduct news | Recycling machinery manufacturer Weima Maschinenbau of Germany has launched a worldwide-patented CrossCut blade for all sizes of its single-shaft shredder. The square rotor blades have a saw-tooth-shaped grooved profile around the edges to yield an enhanced ground material quality along with significantly reduced energy consumption and long blade life. The blades can also be used in single-shaft shredders from other manufacturers.

The new rotor blades can be reversed and are suitable for shredding plastics, wood, paper, cardboard and industrial waste. Owing to the grooved design, intake behaviour differs markedly from that of standard blades to make possible the achievement of faster shredding and, therefore, higher throughputs. This approach also ensures quiet running of the rotor, thereby helping to preserve the bearings. The resultant shredded material is characterised by homogeneous particle size distribution and a very low content of fine-material particles.

The rotor blades are available in edge lengths of 40, 50, 60 and 80 mm and in different qualities so that settings can be made according to the toughness of the task in hand or to the proportion of contaminants expected. Settings can also be geared towards optimising blade life.
